The Mage is here!

26th September 2017 By Inbali 84 Comments

Hello readers,

The Mage – the third book of the Foxcraft series – hits US bookstores TODAY! I’m so excited to share this story with you. Since I first started plotting out Isla’s quest, I knew it would lead her through three distinct environments: the Graylands, the Wildlands and the Snowlands. The Snowlands is unlike anywhere that Isla has been before – a vast, hostile wilderness of bubbling geysers and razors of ice.

Oh, and wolves. Did I mention the wolves?

A blizzard was rising over the Snowlands…

A shriek and my head whipped around, heart lurching against my ribs. Was it only the wind, or something else?

Someone else?

Can Isla cross the Snowlands and survive the warring wolf packs who live there? Will she finally find answers to the riddles that have dogged her since that fateful twilight when her family disappeared? Where is Siffrin? Who is the Black Fox? What is the putrid yellow fog that is rising from the Deep Forest? What is the gloaming, and how is it linked to the most dangerous foxcraft of all?

Where is Pirie…?

Read on, brave foxes. Your quest is almost done.

Run fast, be safe, live free!

Hi Jen, Inbali here! Sorry, no plans for a US tour at this time (events in the UK but I realise that’s a bit far). I would LOVE to meet US readers. If it does happen in the future I’ll be sure to post about that on this site. Thanks for getting in touch, and for the support 🙂

I have not purchased The Mage yet, but am so excited to read it as I am a huge fan of the whole Foxcraft series! Foxes are my very favorite animals; they are fascinating, beautiful creatures in my eyes. I also have a passion for writing, and one day plan on becoming an author, and Miss Inbali Iserles is such an inspiration to me! Her writing style captures the imagination, has the perfect amount of description and detail, and makes you feel as if you were there with Isla through every event in the books. Foxcraft is all around an amazing series, and Inbali, an outstanding and extremely gifted author who I look up to as a role model.

Hi! I love you’re series. I just bought the third book in hardcover because I couldn’t wait. So far it’s really good, and I’m so excited for Isla! If you don’t continue the series, which other people are asking you to do, you should at least make a side book of siffrin or haiki’s life story. Or maybe you should write a completely different Trilogy series about farraclaw or the wolf packs history. I also love your books under Erin Hunter, and I just recently purchased bravelands with the third foxcraft book. I’ve read survivors Seekers and now bravelands, but I haven’t gotten to Warriors because there are so many books. I’ve also read kathryn laskey’s books and love David clement-davie’s. Any other books/authors you would reccomend?

Hi Charlotte, thank you so much for your message and sorry it has taken me a while to reply! I’m so happy that you are a fan of Foxcraft, and Erin Hunter books too 🙂 I love your ideas about Foxcraft spin-offs. I get quite a lot of messages from readers asking me to write a story from Siffrin’s point of view. I also love the idea of writing more about the wolves… Maybe one day! Good question about other book recommendations – I think I should write a post about that and will when I have a bit more time, so thanks for the inspiration! Meanwhile, you’ve mentioned some wonderful authors already. Have you read Tui Sutherland’s Wings of Fire series about dragons? That is fantastic.

          Hi Ava

Thanks for your message! I plotted Foxcraft as a trilogy so it was always going to be three books, and I hope you will be satisfied by the way things are wrapped up in The Mage 🙂

Of course, when it came to writing the last book I thought of all the other stories about Isla, the foxes and the wolves that I would love to have told. But the three book structure felt right… I really hope you enjoy the conclusion to the series, and thank you again for getting in touch.

Hi my name is Sherry and my daughter Hope is 8 and she is in love with your books and so am I! She read the Tygrine cat first and the first Foxcraft and we are ordering the rest of each series because they are unbelievable books! I must say I am most impressed with how you chose to write Foxcraft, from the foxes view, causing the reader to put themselves in the foxes place to understand what’s going on. It is one of the most amazingly creative books I’ve ever read… I was curious, I am trying to find the 2nd Tygrine Cat book “on the run” and I can’t find it anywhere. I’m in the US, in Chicago, IL to be exact and I was going to get it for my daughter for Christmas because she just has to have it. So on Amazon is shows one for $671! And anywhere else, it’s unavailable?? Any idea why? Its really important I get this book, I hope you can help!! Feel free to email me… Thanks so much!
P.S. We would love to see you here in Chicago soon

You said that there wont be a forth book right? But why did you left so much space to go on with the series. I mean nobody knows if the mage is realy dead, whats it all about with piries powers, whats with these two new characters that havent even spoken one word jet, was the grandma an elder and there are many things more.
I understand that you wont do another book and im realy pumped to read your next series that yor already working on right?

Hi there! I’m sorry to say that the third book of Foxcraft will be the last, at least for the time being. So we must assume that ** SPOILER ** characters that appear to have passed away really are dead although, as you know, assumptions can occasionally be wrong 😉 Pirie does have powers, and it is a shame we will not see them in action – but it’s nice to imagine what he and Isla could do together… Future book news will be posted here! WARNING: SPOILERS
Foxcraft is a whole new world, and I think its a shame it has to end with The Mage. Its a great third book, but it does leave off at a HUGE cliffhanger of sorts. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who really wants to know more, like about Isla and Siffrin, how Isla does as the new Black Fox, and a bunch of other unanswered questions. I really hope you will reconsider adding more books to the series. Its just so sad that this whole new magic, fox world has to end its adventures so soon. I do love your books, though, and really admire your work! I’ve always wanted to be an author and write books about magic and wolves!

Hey, I love your books, they´re so awesome and I´ve also learned a lot about foxes, they got my favorite animals… I´m from Germany, and I really enjoyed the final book – although I don´t often agree with the endings of book series, but “The Mage” was just amazing, but my favorite book was “The Elders”. I knew somebody had to die in the last book… but I hoped so much it wouldn´t be Haiki… I think he is quite misunderstood, especially because his personality seems much more sympatic to me than many other foxes, especially in compare with Siffrin in “The Taken”, but I also think that Haiki was in fact nicer than Siffrin (but I like him too! in the two last books) and Haiki did a very big mistake, but Koch and Keeveny also lied at him.
Though the series are over and I liked them very much, I think it is good that it came to an end – like you said, “Foxcraft” used to be a trilogy.
However, of course I also hope that there would be more books about the world of foxcraft, but you have told already there may be something with other characters.
Greetings from Germany and happy new year!

I LOVE your Foxcraft series:D I read the first twenty pages and couldn’t stop reading until I finished all three books. Now foxes are my favorite animal.

Hey Inbali, I had an idea, hopefully wondering what you would think. You know how you created the wolves in the snowlands? Of course you do. Why can’t you make possibly another triolgy based off the wolves point of view? In another time, like before or after The Mage? I really loved your books, and I really enjoy animals. I love them too. And wolves are my favorite. So, I was just wondering because I didn’t want this series to end JUST yet.

Hi Sadie! I love the idea of a wolf series and it has in fact crossed my mind 😉 I really enjoyed developing the culture of the wolves and describing their lives up in the frozen north. I fell in love with the sweeping, snowcapped landscape. So I wouldn’t rule it out… But at the moment I’m developing other (unrelated) stories. Sorry Foxcraft had to come to an end and thank you for your lovely message. I’m so happy to meet another animal-lover! x Inbali

And one more question I wanted to ask…
Are you working on another series? Because if you are, I definitely plan on reading them! Love your work, Inbali. <3 Keep it up!

Hi Sadie 🙂 yes, I am starting to develop another series but I took a break from animal fantasy recently to work on something else. So there will be more animal stories, I hope, but not just yet. I’ll be sure to post any news on this website! x Inbali

Hey! I love your series of Foxcraft and have so many questions. I found you by the name of Erin Hunter, and i’m extremely happy I did. I’ll spare you a million questions I have and ask you one. I’m writing a biography on you and there’s a lot if found out about you! One of my main questions, separate from the biography, is how old were you when you wrote your first book?
One of your biggest fans, Emiry.

Hi Emiry, thank you so much for your support, that’s such a lovely message! The first book I ever wrote was called The Tygrine Cat, an animal fantasy story set against thousands of years of war between two ancient tribes of desert cats. I wrote it in my mid-20s and it was about 30 I think. That was before I started writing as one of the Erins for Survivors, and before Foxcraft 🙂 Thanks again for getting in touch! x Inbali
